Project Win for OSBS at East Norfolk Sixth Form College

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]

Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions has been commissioned by East Norfolk Sixth Form College to design and build a new canteen and two-storey classroom block. This continues a hugely successful relationship with the College established in 2003. Three separate contracts in that time have included the current works, two further classroom blocks and a sports hall for a total of £7m.

The new two-storey classroom block will include 16 classrooms, toilets and office accommodation with the external elevations containing a mixture of red brickwork and grey Kingspan cladding to complement the existing buildings on the College site. The building will include a covered walkway linking the classroom block to the new canteen.

The new single-storey canteen building will include an open seating area with up to 196 people capacity. Also within the buildings footprint will be a kitchen, servery, toilets and storage provision. Sliding folding doors will lead out onto a large terraced area facing the College playing fields to the South of the site. The building will have the same external appearance as the classroom block in keeping with the existing College site.

Both new buildings will be formed using a combination of structural steel frame and timber infill panels with concrete floors throughout with all internal and external finishes and mechanical and electrical installations meeting the College’s specification.

The Elliott Off-Site team will start on site in early September with overall completion of the projects expected in April 2012. Once completed, the whole south facing vista of the College site will include the five buildings constructed by Elliott Off-Site.

OSBS Progress at Victory Park, Sheffield

Elliott Off-Site Building Solutions are making good progress on the new Elliott Depot at Victory Park in Sheffield. The project includes new workshop buildings, a new office building (pictured) and large hard standings for the storage of hire products.

The picture demonstrates the hybrid steel frame and timber infill panel method of construction utilised for this project by the Elliott Off-Site team. This method of construction is employed on many of the division’s projects and provides the benefit of a shorter construction programme. Using modern methods of constructing buildings we are able to provide complete design flexibility which provides tangible benefits to customers in terms of speed of construction, higher quality and efficient and adaptable space use.

Office Store - Store Office - Just Like That!

Here's a portable cabin really popular with the "small builder". That's building companies that only take on one or two jobs at a time, not 5 foot tall brick layers. It's 20ft long and divided into two parts. In one end there's an office with a standard door entrance and the other end is a secure store with double doors. Ideal when space on site is at a premium. It's also from our AV range, which means it's anti-vandal; made of steel with anti tamper locks on the doors. Available from Inverness to Newton Abbott.

Check out these Temporary Buildings

I thought these were worth posting; they're from our Moduflex range of temporary accommodation and have been wrapped with a chequered pattern. The buildings will provide accommodation for commentators and sponsors and will be positioned at the start/finish line at the Goodwood festival of speed event taking place this week end.

Bye Bye to Portable Cabins

After a recent acquisition, the time came for taking stock. On a visit to one of that company's portable cabin holding depots, James, who looks after our second hand cabin sales, was shown a selection of temporary buildings that were not of a high enough quality for inclusion in our hire fleet. They included Thurston Units, Portakabin Pacemaker, Ultra , Lydney, and Caledonian Safemaker buildings. James, with the company's reputation for high standards in mind, decided that the buildings were of such a standard that it would be better if they were scrapped rather than sold. He's a true Yorkshireman and it must have broken his heart!

Farewell to Welfare Unit

James Mellars has been busy again! A customer called him with a problem; his gang of cable layers spent no more than a week at any one job and supplying them with a welfare cabin was becoming quite expensive as the transport charges for a crane offload and collect were relatively high. The solution: James sold him a second hand mobile self contained welfare unit. The customer now tows it from site to site and calls Elliott support services when he requires it to be emptied. Inside, there is a flushing toilet, a drying area, a six person seating area, hand washing facility and a microwave. The unit is powered by a diesel generator. There's a few more available across the country so, anyone interested should call James on 07774131145.

For when Work Stops inside a Workshop in Worksop.

This week James sold a portable cabin to a chap who found our details via the www. He needed some space inside his factory in Worksop "for the lads to use a canteen". After visiting our Wakefield branch, where we have an extensive range of second hand portable accommodation for sale, he chose his unit and arranged delivery of the building for the following Monday. We also organised for the building to be "skated" into position which, in the words of our client, "nobody else seemed interested in doing".   And here's the one he chose.

Giant Steps are what She Takes.....

OK so it's only vaguely related to portable buildings but who cares!

Laura Poole, who organises repairs and renewals to our fleet of energy saving temporary buildings operated from our Cannock branch recently took part in the 26 mile moon walk through London.

She and her team, dressed in traditional West Midlands Saturday night costume, raised a total of £1445 in aid of breast cancer. Job well done Laura (second from right) and thanks for the picture! ;)

Growing Growing Gone!

A customer recently called in to the Elliott branch in Inverness looking for a cheap second hand portable building for him and his fellow tenants to use on their allotments. They were short of somewhere to make drinks and store tools. They chose this building which is a all steel build with steel shutters, meaning it would be ideal as secure storage. They agreed a price of seven hundred pounds and the building was dispatched with in 4 days. The guys at the allotment will be spending the next few days painting the buildings which will hopefully give them many years of use and somewhere for them to brew up have the odd beer.

Grab a lovely pair!

These two 40x12 Steel clad portable buildings were sold to a local transport company who wanted extra space to house their expanding operation. One of the buildings is open plan, and the other is split into 3 main areas; one male one female/disabled toilet, one kitchenette and a seating area for visitors.

Both buildings are platersol coated buildings with pvc coated steel interior white finish.

They are available immediately. For further information, prices and transport costs please contact James Mellars, our Ex-Fleet Manager, on 07774 131145
